Minors’ Report for Peb Moob Senior Center
and
Hmong Elders Center on Projects in Viet Nam

Our Hmong2Hmong program, for which your two centers are the full support, is detailed below with information on the 4 schools where projects are completed.

SANG PRIMARY SCHOOL (Phong Tho – Lai Chau)

Students from 11 villages, 435 households (46,8% under poverty line)

Number of students: 388 (195 girls; 342 Hmong & 46 Dzao)

Number of boarding students: 216 (102 girls)

1.     H2H (Hmong2Hmong) supports the school to build a biogas system with a 20m3 (about 5,283 Gallons) concrete tank VND 33,000,000 (about USD 1,425) and the local partner contributes VND 4,500,000 (about USD 194)

2.     H2H (Hmong2Hmong) supports the school a Fund for food raising (VAC fund – to raise pigs) VND 12,000,000 (about USD 518) and the local partner contributes VND 3,000,000 (about USD 130)

VANG MA CHAI HIGH JUN. SCHOOL (Phong Tho – Lai Chau)

Students from 8 villages (33% households under poverty line)

Number of students: 299 (131 girls; 251 Dzao, 46 Ha Nhi & 3 Kinh)

Number of boarding students: 157 (60 girls)

H2H (Hmong2Hmong) supports the school to build a biogas system with a 20m3 (about 5,283 Gallons) concrete tank VND 35,000,000 (about USD 1,512) and the local partner contributes VND 4,500,000 (about USD 194)

BAN RIA HIGH JUN. SCHOOL (Quang Binh – Ha Giang)

Students from 4 villages, 378 households (Ban Ria is poor commune in Ha Giang)

Number of students: 305 (160 girls; 229 Tay, 36 Dzao, 26 Hmong & 14 La Chi and Pa Then)

Number of boarding students: 245 (135 girls)

H2H (Hmong2Hmong) supports the school to build a water system (dam, filter tank, water pipe) VND 50,000,000 (about USD 2,159) and the local partner contributes VND 10,000,000 (about USD 432)

Dam nice job.

With the dam repaired and water flowing, an old tank from a Minors’ project of many years ago is back in use. The youngest students had the most difficulty carrying water, so are the happiest.

PA VAY SU SCHOOLS (Xin Man – Ha Giang)

Students from 7 villages, 355 households (Pa Vay Su is poor commune in Ha Giang)

PRIMARY SCHOOL:

Number of students: 299 (139 girls; 282 Hmong, 11 Nung & 6 Dzao)

Number of boarding students: 121 (50 girls)

HIGH JUN. SCHOOL:

Number of students: 122 (50 girls; 106 Hmong, 9 Nung & 7 Dzao)

Number of boarding students: 72 (23 girls)

H2H (Hmong2Hmong) supports the school 02 Water tanks (each 4 m3 ~ 1,057 gallons, and of stainless steel SUS 304) VND 21,000,000 (about USD 907) and the local partner contributes VND 4,000,000 (about USD 173)

Girls no longer have to go to streams at night to bathe is one of the great benefits of running clean water.

99.8% of the students served by these projects are from highland ethnic minority communities: 756 or 53% are Hmong children.Other ethnic minority children served by this initial Hmong2Hmong project are Dzao (Mien), Tay, Ha Nhi, Nung, La Chi, Pa Then, and Kinh or ethnic Vietnamese, the latter probably children of teachers.
